Update: The Dinner is now sold out. Thanks for all your interest!
Our November Girl Geek Dinner is confirmed and we are rarin’ to go. The Girl Geeks will be gathering on Tuesday, November 20th at 6pm at The Bauer Kitchen in Waterloo. Please note that this is a smaller space, so we’ll have fewer tickets available, and Sherry is an amazing speaker, so they will go super-fast.
At our dinner, Sherry’s topic will be: Managing Up, Down and Sideways for Girls, Geeks and Managers. In this session, Sherry will present some tips and guidelines for managers and geeks, combined with real-life examples. How do geeks and managers think, and why do they often misunderstand each other? Are the stereotypes true? Find out why geeks aren’t impossible and managers aren’t idiots.
At our Dinners we’ve talked about women in tech, geekdom, and management — now we’re combining all three. And Sherry knows whereof she speaks. She’s worked in software for 15 years, most of them managing people and projects. She has followed a career path through a diverse range of roles and departments and is currently Director, Global Intranet at Volaris Group, where she gets to be a geek and a manager. In her spare time she is a devotee of literature, home improvements, and theoretical physics, and a disciple of the oeuvre of Joss Whedon.
Tickets are available now, so register like the wind. See you on November 20th!
